Social media volunteer/communication
The treatment of LGBTI refugees is the subject of a heated societal and political
debate. As a communication volunteer, you speak on behalf of LGBT Asylum Support. Do you keep abreast of developments relating to LGBTI Refugees in the Netherlands and abroad? Are you able to identify and relate individual developments to widespread societal and political phenomena in relation to LGBTI-refugees? Do you have strong communication skills and wish to influence public opinion on LGBTI-refugees? Then you may be our new communication volunteer!
Responsibilities
As a communication volunteer, you have a variety of responsibilities. LGBT Asylum Support assists clients on a weekly basis in court. You will draw up press statements intended for social media channels. In addition, in collaboration with the chairman you manage incoming and outgoing communication with organisations such as the IND, the COA, political parties, asylum lawyers, editorial boards, news outlets, fellow NGO’s, stakeholders and individual clients.
What do we ask of you?
- You have a background in communication studies
- You have experience or affinity with LGBTI-refugees
- You are open-minded to people of different cultural backgrounds
- You are able to relate to LGBTI-refugees
- You have strong communication skills and are able to communicate both short -and long term strategic goals
- You have a proactive mindset
- You are resilient and able to cope with work-related stress
- You rely on critical thinking
- You are able to work independently, but also as part of a team
- You are fluent in Dutch and English
- You are in possession of a properly functioning computer and are familiar with digital working environments and social media
- You have a flexible availability on a weekly basis, depending on developments
What do we offer you?
- You will be part of a dedicated team of volunteers, looking out for your personal growth and stimulate initiative
- You are invited to set up projects to diversify and expand LGBT Asylum Support’s foothold in public opinion such as conducting interviews with LGBTI-refugees, make short documentaries, produce podcasts etc
- You are invited to participate in annually organised LGBTI-events
